Kathy Goss, Kids Serving Kids Program Manager (Volunteer)
Kathy joined the Forgotten Voices team in 2011 serving as the Kids Serving Kids Coordinator. Kids Serving Kids is an initiative to connect parents with resources, materials and opportunities to serve side-by-side with their children. These experiences will enable children to tangibly demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ throughout their local communities, Southern Africa and the world. As coordinator, Kathy is responsible for reaching out to parents, children, Children’s Ministries, and churches to promote a lifelong commitment to service. Kathy holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, a diploma for graduates in International Development from the University of London-London School of Economics and is currently working towards an M.A. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University. She is the mother of two school-aged children and currently works part-time as a network administrator.
Q. What prompted you to serve as the Kids Serving Kids Coordinator for Forgotten Voices International? A: It is my heart’s desire to see children incorporate the virtues of compassion, service and giving into their everyday lives. However our children are continually bombarded with cultural influences that counter these virtues. I accepted this position because as a parent and children’s ministry volunteer, I have witnessed the amazing ability, determination and passion of children to reach out and meet the needs of others, when made aware of their needs. I believe that parents, churches and Children’s Ministries, when equipped, can balance the influence of our culture in the lives of children and help them work on behalf of those whose voices are forgotten throughout the world. |
