Off to Zimbabwe Tomorrow: Follow Along!

Friends – please follow my adventures to Zimbabwe from June 18-July 3 with our Forgotten Voices team. On our way we have a brief layover in Switzerland for a meeting with some potential partners, also working in Zim. As always we will be tweeting from @forgottenvoices, using hashtag #FVAfrica.

We’ll also be blogging at forgottenvoices.org/blog. As you know we do a lot of work in Zambia now but this trip will be old school – just Zimbabwe.

There is so much to write and so little time. Above all just pray. Thanks!

-Ryan

MORE ON TRIP & TEAM:

During the trip we will be visiting projects to see how the work is progressing, especially with 3 new projects you helped us start this year in Bulawayo. We’ll explore income generation progress, counseling ministries, begin preparations for farming training in the next 2 months, and begin implementing some new tools our African partners have helped us develop to better assess how they are doing at orphan care.

Kathy Goss, our Kids Serving Kids leader, is traveling to help us grow our outreach to children in the USA, as well as enhance our interactions between the USA & Africa. We have a heart for children discovering God’s heart for children. Kathy coming will help us grow in this area to the betterment of our mission. Kathy is married with 2 kids and lives in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Matt Kirkley is taking a new volunteer role of Creative Catalyst, helping us provide mediums for artists and our partners in Africa to creatively express the emotions that cannot be captured in traditional blog posts or narrative. We are being asked, more and more, to create space for this and Matt’s outside the box thinking will enhance our use of still photography, video, poetry, sculpting, etc. Matt lives in Lancaster, PA.

Trevor Bunch is one of our Board members and is long affiliated with Forgotten Voices. He has a mind for detail and a heart for getting things right. As a founding Board member, Trevor needs to see how far Zimbabwe has come since we first went in 2004 and help our Board and Management discern the path ahead. He lives in Grantham, PA with his wife Julie (our volunteer Dir of Administration), and is the father of 4 children.

There is much more to this crew and you’ll meet them as we go. Enjoy the ride!
