July 2012 Prayer and Praise
Happy Independence Day to our USA readers!
As we celebrate the freedoms inherent in our citizenship today, may we also celebrate the freedom found in Christ and the inherent relationships He brings us into as part of God’s family around the world. Today, in between the fireworks, the bbqs, the swimming and the fellowship, would you take a few minutes to pray over the needs and praises of our partners in Zimbabwe and Zambia?
Each month we receive prayer and praise updates from the churches with whom we partner across Zimbabwe and Zambia. Below are just a few of those updates. We hope you’ll take some time to pray about these requests and praises, and remember the work of our church projects in Africa. You can learn more about the projects featured here by visiting www.forgottenvoices.org/our-projects/project-profiles
Free Methodist Church Project, Magwegwe North
Tuesday, July 3rd, our church starts a revival week. Revival comes as God’s loving power touches and transforms willing hearts. Pray for preparedness among church members and all who attend. Transformed individuals will transform our societies. Pray that the church will be challenged to continue “living responsibly in a hostile foreign land’.
Brethren in Christ Nguboyenja, Bulawayo (new partner!)
Pray that God would continue to supply the needs of guardians caring for orphaned children. These include spiritual and psycho social needs, as some children feel hopeless in their situations, some face verbal abuse and some carry deep emotional scars from the losses they’ve experienced. Pray that the guardians would have the wisdom and strength to faithfully love these children.
Pray for 14 year old Gugulethu. She hasn’t attended school since 5th grade due to first the loss of her parents, followed by the development of epilepsy. She suffers attacks multiple times throughout the week and it has made her life very difficult.
Ndeke Evangelical Church of Zambia, Ndola
Pray for the health of two children under the church’s orphan care ministry, Alice and Nelson, who have chronic illness and have not been well recently.
Praise God for the safe trip which Pastor Vincent had to and from Burundi and for the people who gave their lives to Christ through his preaching!
Pray for us as a church to remain united and for financial breakthrough.
Organization-wide prayer requests
Pray for health across the Forgotten Voices family of staff, volunteers and ministry partners, in the USA, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Pray for the US team returning from 2 weeks in Zimbabwe on July 3rd, as they process all that they have witnessed and heard in the last two weeks, rest and reunite with their families, and continue to lead in their various areas of ministry.
Pray for strong leadership, effective communication and for financial needs to be met as President Ryan Keith begins a well-earned six-week sabbatical and newly appointed Chief Operations Officer Nate Shaffer provides increased leadership and oversight to the organization during this time.
