Introducing Neatness
Meet Neatness, age 14. Hear her story of courage, hope, and love. Neatness' last words to us before we left her were these: "I hope my story helps thousands of kids, just like me, all around me."

Follow the travels of Ryan and friends, as they work with Forgotten Voices around southern Africa and the USA. Read interesting stories from the ground and get the very latest from our partners in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the USA.
Often under trees in their home village, over 500 people die every day from AIDS related illnesses in Zimbabwe and Zambia, leaving a daily average of 1,000 children orphaned by AIDS.
Impact: school fees, voluntary counseling and testing clients, support for schools in a Peer Education Programme, home based care workers training & home-based care kit distribution.
Impact: 48 primary and secondary kids, as well as 20 trained in homebased care, as well as funding to supply orphans and caretakers with health & food needs
Impact: Currently helping 21 children back to school (with a goal of 80) and sewing/empowerment projects for 32 widows; construction of a hammer mill that is used for grinding corn, providing sustainability.
Impact: 26 kids in primary school. The husband and wife that lead this ministry fled Rwanda in opposite directions during an attack on their village during the country’s vicious genocide.
We are demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ by equipping local churches in southern Africa to meet the physical & spiritual needs of children orphaned by AIDS in their communities.
We are focused on locally developed and run orphan care to protect the voices of pastors, community leaders, and the children they serve.

Our first project partner in Africa, this ministry is a testament to the reach and willingness of the local church to do the hard part of loving kids 24/7, wherever they are located. This project reaches nearly 100 churches alone, covering 7 different districts around Zimbabwe. Each district organizes its ministry to children orphaned by AIDS, under the direction of the national AIDS programme, which is located at Mtshabezi Mission, the main BICC Zimbabwe mission hospital. While our work has continued to expand to different church- led projects in Zimbabwe and now into Zambia, our heart for the work of the local church toward children orphaned by AIDS was found at Mtshabezi. Their efforts are like the little engine that could, with so much against them. They press on in the face of adversity. Nearly 1/3 of women in the Mtshabezi region are infected with HIV and 40% of adults are feared to have HIV, making their challenge overwhelming daily. Forgotten Voices is partnering with this ministry because it is equipping local churches around Zimbabwe with the physical and spiritual support local pastors need to meet the unique challenges faced by children orphaned by AIDS. We are pleased to be in partnership with Mennonite Central Committee to help the ministry expand its reach, while building a stronger local ownership of the national project over the whole of Zimbabwe. |
