Kabushi ECZ (Evangelical Church of Zambia) Orphan Care Project, Ndola, Zambia PDF Print E-mail

Ndola, Zambia

Impact:
  • School fees and other requirements satisfied for 60 orphans and vulnerable children
  • New well drilled to provide clean water access and irrigation for farming
  • Pastor’s home constructed
  • Banana orchard at the church plot generates income for the church’s orphan care ministry

The growing number of children orphaned by HIV is overwhelming. Even sadder, most of these children are left in the care of grandparents who are too old to care for them and meet their needs. It is against this background that the Kabushi church has also initiated a program of giving food supplements and seed for families to start backyard gardens.  It is always a delight to visit Kabushi ECZ, especially when the children’s choir sings. Most of the children in the choir are orphans under the program care of Pastor Benjamin Mashonga’s local church social ministry. Even though he is aging, Pastor Mashonga is still very active with the local church’s ministry. Every member or visitor to the church draws from his wisdom. He has been a member of the local church from the late 1950s, prior to receiving his formal theological training.  Forgotten Voices is delighted to part of such dedication as pastor Mashonga demonstrates. When you donate to the ministry of Forgotten Voices, know that you are giving a hand to the ministry of pastors like Benjamin, who are still running the race marked out for them by the Lord.
