Hope Chapel Church PDF Print E-mail

Ndola, Zambia

Impact:

  • 150 students receiving free education at a school run by the church
  • Supplies for school including desks, textbooks, teacher stipends, meals for students
  • School fees paid for an additional 28 children in the community attending government schools
  • Plans in progress to drill a well to address clean water access needs in the community

Pastor Fredrick Mumba and his wife, Faides, are a beautiful example of the sacrificial, long-term commitment to children found at Hope Chapel. They have 5 children of their own and are raising three more children from the community who had been orphaned. In 2001, together with his quite impoverished church members, Pastor Mumba embarked on a mission to build a church that would also serve as a community school. Most of the 150 children they now teach come from homes that have been affected by HIV. Many are orphans and many are HIV+ themselves. Quite a number live with grandparents who are unable to provide for the educational and medical needs of their grandchildren. The church is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ by taking up these parental responsibilities.
